DodaTech (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides the “Notes for Gmail by DodaTech” browser extension (the “Extension”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding user data, information collection, and permissions.

1. Core Privacy Principle: Zero External Data Collection

“Notes for Gmail by DodaTech” is built with a local-first, privacy-by-design architecture:

  • We do NOT collect, transmit, store, or sell any of your personal information, notes, or email data on external servers.
  • All notes and user-entered content remain strictly on your local device inside your browser’s secure storage (chrome.storage).
  • Your private notes are never attached to, transmitted with, or visible to the recipients of your emails.

2. Permissions Used and Justification

In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store Developer Policies, the Extension requests only the minimum necessary permissions required for its core functionality:

  1. storage:
    • Purpose: To save your notes, color tags, and preferences locally on your device so they persist across browser sessions.
  2. tabs:
    • Purpose: To switch to or open the relevant Gmail email thread when you click on a note in the extension’s toolbar manager.
  3. Host Permission (https://mail.google.com/*):
    • Purpose: To inject the “Notes” button and note panel directly beneath the subject line in Gmail, display inbox indicator badges on email rows, and detect thread IDs to associate your notes with the correct email conversation. No email body text or communications are sent to any server.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

  • No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share, sell, rent, or monetize your data or notes with any third parties, advertising networks, or data brokers.
  • No Analytics / Tracking: The Extension does not include third-party tracking cookies, telemetry, or analytics SDKs.

4. Compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy

“Notes for Gmail by DodaTech” complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use requirements:

  • Data accessed through Gmail is used solely to provide and improve user-facing features (attaching notes to email threads).
  • We do not use or transfer user data for serving advertisements, credit-worthiness evaluation, or training artificial intelligence / machine learning models.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

  • User Control: You have complete control over your data. When you delete a note within the extension, it is immediately and permanently purged from your browser’s storage.
  • Uninstalling: Uninstalling the extension automatically removes all locally stored data created by the extension.
  • Backup & Export: You may export your notes at any time as a .txt or .json file for personal backup or migration.
